Which Course Best Fits Your Needs?

SQL Programming Training

The 3-day SQL Programming course provides training on universal Structured Query Language (SQL) that is used by many relational database management systems (RDBMS), such as MySQL, Oracle, DB2, and Microsoft SQL Server. Students will also learn fundamental relational database design concepts, so that they better understand the structure of a SQL database and can navigate them more effectively. Upon completion, participants will understand SQL functions, join techniques, database objects and constraints, and will be able to write useful SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE and DELETE statements. Hands on exercises are performed throughout training each day to reinforce key concepts. No prior database experience is necessary to attend this course.

Attendees who know that they will be working specifically with Microsoft SQL Server may instead be better served by taking the 5-day Microsoft Transact-SQL Programming course offered by HOTT. In addition to covering everything in the 3-day SQL Programming course, it contains an additional 2 days of coverage of T-SQL functionality that is specific to Microsoft SQL Server.

Transact-SQL Programming Training

The 5-day Microsoft Transact-SQL Programming course teaches students relational database fundamentals and SQL programming skills in the Microsoft SQL Server environment. Topics covered include relational database architecture, database design techniques, and simple and complex query skills. The course also covers Microsoft-specific T-SQL programming constructs, creation and use of stored procedures and user-defined functions, and use of cursors and updateable views. Upon completion, participants will understand SQL functions, join techniques, database objects and constraints, and will be able to write useful SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE and DELETE statements. Lab exercises during class utilize Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS). No prior database experience is necessary to attend this course.

SQL Server Reporting Services Training

The 3-day SQL Server 2019 Reporting Services course (as well as the SQL 2017 and SQL 2016 versions) includes an overview of SQL Server business intelligence architecture, and then focuses on the role of Reporting Services. Students will design, develop, and deploy database reports utilizing both Visual Studio and SQL Server Management Studio. Reports created during class will be able to consume data from relational, multi-dimensional, and tabular data sources.

Before taking this SQL Reporting Services training course it is highly recommended, though not required, that students already have knowledge of being able to read and understand basic SQL SELECT queries and JOIN statements, so that they can understand the queries for data that are used by their reports. HOTT's Microsoft Transact-SQL Programming course provides an excellent option for learning this skill, as well as teaching about many more useful & fundamental SQL database topics. Information and Pricing on multi-class training passes is available here.

Attendees who are also interested in Integration Services and Analaysis services should follow up this Reporting Services course with our 5-day SQL Server 2019 Business Intelligence: Integration Services and Analysis Services course (or the SQL 2017 and SQL 2016 versions). Information and Pricing on multi-class training passes is available here.

SQL Server Integration Services Training and SQL Server Analysis Services Training

The 5-day SQL Server 2019 Business Intelligence: Integration Services and Analysis Services course (as well as our SQL 2017 and SQL 2016 equivalent offerings) focus on the Integration Services (SSIS) and Analysis Services (SSAS) business intelligence tools that are bundled with SQL Server. Students work with complex SSIS data migration projects that import/export data between multiple formats including: Access, SQL Server, Oracle and other databases, XML files, Excel spreadsheets and flat files. Students will learn how to use SSAS to design, build and populate data warehouses to stage data for use by data cubes, and will perform hands-on exercises to design and build a data warehouse. The SSIS/SSAS training course also includes an overview of data mining and the tools available to do this in SSAS, supported by a hands-on exercise that walks through the process of defining a data mining structure to predict future sales. Administration topics related to data cubes are covered, including exercises that deploy and secure cubes, process and manage cubes.

Before taking this SQL Integration and Analysis Services training course it is highly recommended, though not required, that students already are capable of being able to read and understand basic SQL SELECT queries and JOIN statements, so that they have foundational querying knowledge that will better prepare them for MDX data cube querying. HOTT's Microsoft Transact-SQL Programming course provides an excellent option for learning this skill, as well as teaching about many more useful & fundamental SQL database topics. Information and Pricing on multi-class training passes is available here.

Attendees who are also interested in Reporting Services should precede this Integration/Analysis Services course with our 3-day SQL Server 2019 Reporting Services course (or the SQL 2017 and SQL 2016 versions), and then move on to the appropriate Integration and Analysis services course afterwards. Information and Pricing on multi-class training passes is available here.

Microsoft SQL Server Administration Training

The 5-day Microsoft SQL Server 2017 Administration course (as well as our SQL Server 2016 equivalent offering) focuses on the fundamentals of administering the SQL Server database engine. During the courses, you will practice common administrative tasks and learn how Microsoft SQL Server works under the covers. Attendees will learn how to install, configure, manage, secure, automate, monitor, and optimize SQL Server. Students will also learn how to create, manage, back up, and restore individual databases, transfer and replicate data, configure for high availability, and plan disaster recovery.

Before taking either of the SQL Administration courses it is highly recommended, though not required, that students already have familiarity with fundamental database concepts such as basic table design and ability to write simple queries. HOTT's Microsoft Transact-SQL Programming course provides an excellent option for acquiring this fundamental knowledge. Information and Pricing on multi-class training passes is available here.

As always, a fantastic experience. This is my 4th class from HOTT this year - T-SQL, SSRS, SSIS/SSAS and DB admin. The instructors were all excellent, knowledgeable, interesting and presented the information concisely.
